The University has successfully completed the process of automation of the following Departments: Examination, Finance, Purchase, Distance Education through the software developed by Chennai Based Software company Palpap Ichinichi Software International Ltd., It has also started to implement the modules in real time environment, which proved to be a roaring success. The sophisticated modules are developed by Palpap considering the needs of the University, after an extensive analysis on the requirements. The staff of Periyar University are given hands-on training on the computers by the company. As part of the automization of the University, a new website is launched that will help make the University more accessible to the community.

The portal furnishes details of Admission information, which provides Admission procedures, Eligibility criteria, courses offered and complete guidance for the students who wish to apply. The procedure for applying, application forms which can be downloaded, status of the application etc., can be accessed. The portal also furnishes details of Academic activities where the new syllabi, curriculum, activities are launched. The Affiliation details where the information of all colleges affiliated under the university can be viewed. The Course details of various UG and PG courses offered by the University and the eligibility criteria for applying the same, fee structure, the Phil. Courses offered, the Research subjects and thesis submission details; Any information or any message given by the Vice Chancellor.
Also the website explores the functioning of The Controller of examination where the schedule for the exams to be conducted, the various services rendered by the wing, the registration for examinations, Issuing of Hall tickets, the status of the hall ticket, grouping mark statements, awarding degree to the students etc., and that the officials hope that it will increase the understanding between university and the community. The website is framed so as to facilitate both the distance education and regular education students; The alumni details like association, meeting, reports are tracked in the website. Also the details of faculties and their subjects are published in the site so as to enable the students get closer to the university.
